Think of a blog as your own social media site. People can view, follow, and quote from there. To garner more engagement, consistently post exclusive media to that blog. Also, if social media ever disappears, you have a place where all your words already exist.

With regular posts, repurpose the content as tweets, or posts on LinkedIn and/or threads. All that blog content is drafts for all your social media content.

Finally, stand for something. You can’t just repeat good ideas. If you’re claiming to be an expert, you have to show people why. Go to the pages of other people in your field and either endorse or disagree to show where you differ from the competition.

If you share everything on your story that you share on your feed, people will stop clicking your story. Instead of giving it all away, save some exclusive content for your stories. This will help people get in the habit of clicking and expecting new and engaging content.

Not all Gen Z know how to grow social media audiences or leverage marketing to further business goals. Social media is simply an effective channel for marketing so the most effective marketers are ones that know how to communicate through various channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.

Knowing the latest trend on TikTok and keeping up with brat summer on Instagram is great for a moment but a random gen z hire without the strategy and knowledge of general marketing is not going to be helpful for long term success.

It’s not very demure, not very mindful to not be on TikTok.

If you’re a marketer, especially a millennial marketer, you need to hang out on TikTok for at least 10min a day. Everyday.

All of these viral trends are starting on TikTok. TT is the king of short form content. Insta and YouTube are trying to catch up. However, the culture of TikTok is why things like the “demure” trend are going viral. There’s a casualness, a frankness, a realness that is championed on TikTok. People talking about work culture in their car is the content that performs best. And because that content is easy to produce, there’s a high quantity of these videos. Meaning, the probability of one of those videos going viral is very high. But that’s another explanation for another day.

What you need to know now is that, in order to win at marketing, you need to be at the origin of these trends, so you can understand how to use them, and when. TikTok pushes viral videos to the top of most for you pages so it doesn’t take much scrolling to understand the jist of a trend. Make sure to engage with high performing videos so that TikTok keeps sending them to you and you start understanding what might go viral.

Actually sit down and create a collaboration with folks in your industry to reach that larger audience. This helps with a few things:
1. Their audience will already have an interest in what you do since it’s similar
2. You’ll be able to grow your network with fellow industry colleagues
3. You both gain higher engagement on posts and gain each others following thru the combined exposure
