Im annoyed. Ive seen the same message from @garyvee for 1yr+ now: social media is dead. The message itself I agree with, but he’s literally said this at least once a day on every platform for the last year. After the first 1000 times seeing it, I’d shout “We get it!” But recently, something sneaky happened. I started repeating. In my meetings, in conversations with colleagues. And every time I did, I thought of Gary V. And that’s the point of marketing. You want people to not only get it, but repeat it. And to think of you when they do—whether it was an original idea or not. Here are some other perfect examples:

Third and final part of “what to post as…”

Today we’re talking about consultants and coaches. Since you don’t have a “product” that you can show, you want to lean into what you do have: expertise, knowledge.

People are afraid that AI will replace all that hard work you did but between a robot and a human, we’re still picking humans by the landslide.

So give us instructions, help us learn how to advance in life, show us your expertise to build trust, and when it comes time to buy, we’re going to think of you.

I see this mistake so often on social media channels. If you are a service provider, don’t just show us the after. People buy the transformation, not just the results. They want to know the before.

This feels like common sense to me but if I see one more page that is full of “after pictures” or “results” and no before, I’m gonna make this a series.

And to the people who only give us the before, you’re just cruel.

You are exactly what someone is looking for. Tell your story so they can find you. Grow out loud.

Frame formula: Here’s how I would approach [something people want to learn/know] as a [your profession] for [years in the field]

As a [profession] for [years in the field], here’s how I would approach [thing they want to know]

Example: Here’s how I would increase my flexibility as a physical therapist for 10 years.

Example #2: As a financial advisor for 15 years, here’s how I’d save my first $1000.

This formula simultaneously communicates your expertise and solves a problem for your viewer.

If you’re a highly skilled expert, you don’t to just post dances and silly videos. (Although there is a time and place for that.) You want to build trust and you do that by sharing your expert knowledge and opinions.

We’re back talking about the KERT framework, which helps service providers, consultants, and business owners understand where they are in their branding and visibility. After Knowledge Builder comes Emerging Expert.

The chief goal of an emerging expert is to prove oneself. Now is the time to collect the testimonials from all of the people you’ve helped and refine your process.

Your friends and your family will see your stuff. They will also probably clown you behind your back. But if you can survive all of that, there truly is magic on the other side.

I’ve created numerous high performing videos. Routinely garnering tens of thousands and millions of views for my clients. And the process is the same every time. There’s no need to throw spaghetti at the wall because i guarantee there’s someone in your industry online already. So here’s what you’re gonna do:

👀1. Stock the mess out of them. Look at every platform they’re on. And take note of the top 5 highest performing videos.

✍️2. Copy them. (Please not word for word, but you get it.) The only thing you need to change is highlighting your product instead of theres.

♻️3. Rinse and repeat. You need to test different variations to see what your audience resonates with most. But if it went viral for your competition, there’s a high probability that it will go viral for you.

I don’t think you understand—the internet is being flooded with real and fake people (fake in the sense of AI and humans who don’t know how to be authentic to themselves).

Which means there’s now a premium on real people. Now is the time to lean into who you are. Now is the time to double down on your quirks, on your oddities, on your weird interests because that is the biggest differentiating factor and different makes the most powerful brands.

Three steps to make a viral video for yourself if you’re a business owner or for your clients if you’re in the social media world.

1. Research. This is the most important step. There’s enough content out there that’s already succeeding that you don’t need to come up with your own. You just have to make it your own when it comes to remaking the content.

2. Post the exact same content with a very minor tweaks. It’s hard to see what’s working if you’re always posting randomly.

3. Keep going! You really just have to keep making minor adjustments and re-studying the content that works as you wait until lightning strikes. But believe me, it only needs to strike once, so be ready for when it does.

If you want higher quality videos just using your phone camera then you’ll want to go to settings>camera> recording>4k at 24fps. This will give your videos a more cinematic feel. If you also get a nice mic and use consistently good lighting, that’ll immediately improve your content.

These quick “just hopped on the camera cause I need to tell you something” vids are great but not sustaining for a page. Think of your social media platforms like a tv channel—you need regular scheduled programming that people want to stay in order to binge.

Short form content might bring them, but long form, high quality consistent content will keep them.

I don’t make the rules, I just follow them 💅🏾

Being an expert or highly experienced doesn’t necessarily mean people view you as someone with authority. This is very ironic post seeing my current follower count but, personally, no matter how good the content is, if there’s less than 1k followers and the person is claiming to be an expert, I’m SUPER DUPER skeptical 🧐🤨 .

A few exceptions: I personally know them, they show credentials in other ways (books, press, other followings, etc.), they have over 100+ posts with high value content.

But even then I’m still a little skeptical. Make it easier for people to follow you by building credibility with your follower count. It’s not everything but it’s something.
